SteelCo Buildings Sponsored the Taste of Newton Festival

This October, the eighth annual Taste of Newton Food and Business Festival in Porterdale brought excellent food, great music and the local community together to enjoy the best that the area has to offer. SteelCo Buildings is proud to have been a sponsor for the third year, playing a key role in making the festival the robust and thriving event it has developed into.

More About Taste of Newton

The event acts as the annual fundraiser for the Covington-Newton County Chamber of Commerce while also showcasing the area’s best restaurants and culinary delights. Held in the Porterdale Gym on Thursday, October 18th from 4:00pm to 7:00pm, the festival allowed each participating restaurant to offer a sample of its best dishes for attendees to try. Festival attendees were able to exchange tickets bought at the door for $1 each for these delicious bites.

The annual festival was initially conceived of eight years ago in response to the perception that the community lacks dining options. As the event has grown each year in both restaurant participation and attendee count, the Taste of Newton Festival appears to have accomplished what it set out to do: prove that the Covington-Newton County area does have a wide range of restaurants with delicious and varied food.

The Festival Gets Better Every Year

Designed to resemble the offerings and atmosphere provided at similar larger festivals in cities such as Atlanta, the Taste of Newton Festival gathers together a significant number of local eating establishments, including Bradley’s Bar-B-Que, Amici, Harrison Family Farm, Bread and Butter, Jessicakes, Jimmy John’s, Newton College and Career Academy, Milazzo’s Ristorante, Johnny’s Pizza, Mystic Grill, Shane’s Rib Shack, Oxford College, Town Square Olive Oil, Common Ground Coffee, The Oaks Course and Your Pie. Specific items offered by these participating restaurants included shrimp and grits, pita sandwiches, cookies, chili, tacos and much more. As attendees circulated throughout the festival and tasted the many food offerings, live bands offered entertainment and a range of door prizes added to the excitement.

Honored To Be A Third Year Sponsor

SteelCo Buildings participated in this year’s festival, as we have in 2015 and 2016, by acting as the bar sponsor. As bar sponsor, SteelCo supported the cash bar run by the Chamber of Commerce and stocked with wine and beer from local merchants. This sponsorship is one of several that SteelCo provides for local events and highlights the company’s ongoing commitment to the greater community.
